Theresa Kasun is a classically trained figurative artist and accomplished painter known for her masterful technique and vibrant storytelling through art.
One of her most prominent public works is a 50-foot mural at the iconic Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The mural has been featured in the Season 13 finale of Blue Bloods (aired May 19, 2023) and in Season 4, Episode 9 of Law & Order: Organized Crime (aired April 11, 2024).
A lifelong baseball fan and former Queens resident, Theresa began painting en plein air at Citi Field in 2020, inspired by the Cohen family’s purchase of the Mets. Her work captures the spirit and energy of Mets home games, preserving fleeting moments in bold and expressive brushwork.
In the early 2000s, her still life paintings of wine and food were licensed for kitchen textiles, becoming top-selling products in major retailers like Bed Bath & Beyond, Linens & Things, Walmart, and others.—a testament to her broad appeal and connection with American consumers.
Theresa is also a beloved figure in New York’s holiday season tradition, having painted festive window displays across the city’s boroughs since graduating from NYAA in 1992. She is currently working on a book chronicling this work: Window Painting in NYC: Thirty Years and Counting.
Theresa’s work is held in notable private collections, including those of Brooke Shields and Steven & Alexandra Cohen. (The owners of the Mets baseball team.) Theresa’s highly realistic dessert and donut paintings have become sought-after collectible pieces, blending charm, nostalgia, and technical precision.
Her unique painting style fuses the philosophies and techniques of the Impressionists—refined during her BFA studies at the Kansas City Art Institute—with the discipline and depth of the Renaissance masters, honed through her MFA from the New York Academy of Art.
Theresa currently lives in Connecticut, just a short trip from New York City. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, she moved to NYC in 1990 to earn her master’s degree in figurative art from the New York Academy of Art.
She has three grown children; one in California and two close by—who remain among her greatest masterpieces.
