My art Journey milestones and Achievements

My daughter took full advantage of me being an artist. No wedding for these 2 gamers would’ve been complete without me painting the cake toppers; a Minecraft bride and groom . “Welcome to my parents’ wedding,” the mirror in the lobby, was done in acrylic markers, and I painted a watercolor portrait of her dog Suga and her best friend Benji, for a “Drinks on Us,” sign for cocktail hour. Once, the pictures from the photographer come in we’ll pick the one they like the best and I will paint their wedding portrait.

The entire day was very joyful from beginning to end. My daughter was married to a wonderful young man Christian Garcia. Engaged in March of 2025, it all came together one year later on March 13, 2026.

My mom and 4 brothers all flew in from different parts of the country. The ceremony took place at hour church, St. Josephs, in Shelton. My oldest brother, Fr. Paul, is a priest and was the main celebrant. (There were a total of 4 priests on the altar! Talk about starting out with a boatload of blessings.)

Back by popular demand – Spring flowers on the windows at 3rd & 7 Tavern! As I painted a kite on the front windows, I decided to add words like, fun, food, drinks etc., below the kite. I paint backwards from from the inside so the people walking by on the outside can read them.

Something very cool emerged as I was painting them. The sun started streaming through the windows and reflected the words on the adjoining walls making them readable from the inside. I think this is the physics of “camera obscura effect” that Leonardo da Vinci used to play with.

I’ve been making more efforts entering art competitions this year and was selected as the 1st place winner for an online art organization called, “The ArtList.” I can be found on the month of April cover competition. It’s always a great honor to get recognition as a professional artist. https://www.theartlist.com/featured-artists/2026-theresa-kasun

ArtList selected my painting, “Cake Heaven.” When I originally exhibited this painting in 2019, it went to the Miami Art Fair and was later purchased by Brooke Shields. (She’s the “it girl” of my generation and has been collecting art since she was a child star.) When I met her in person, she was very approachable, down to earth. and gave me a hug when she found out I was the artist who painted it. You could see my painting on the wall behind her when she used to do her podcasts.

Where else would you find me on the Mets opening day than at Citi Field, this big beautiful ballpark, painting en plain air! It’s my happy place. I’ll be there again soon! I also plan on attending a couple of their Brooklyn cyclones minor league games this season.
