Unique Christmas windows at local Pizzerias

Christmas window painting began in Manhattan this year at Little Italy Pizza, 45th street off of 5th avenue. Filled with tourists and the local work force of New York City, its the best pizza this side of town!

The original owner, Dino, has since retired and it is now run by his nephew Phil; who by the way makes my son’s favorite pizza, calamari pizza.

As for me I like the bolognese pizza slice, which is hamburger meat in sauce, or the veggie slice. In NYC, you name a food you like and it can be made into a pizza.

Over at Rocco pizza II and III – I heard people asking for the pineapple slices. I don’t know about you but fruit on pizza is where I draw the line. I’m not a big fan of pineapple either, except in a smoothie. Do you have a favorite kind of pizza?

Both Rocco pizzerias in Bed-Stye Brooklyn are always busy. Delivery guys are constantly in and out with boxes of hot food. The local foot traffic changes all day long, from the working lunch crowd, to teachers and the parents picking kids up after school, to all the locals that come in after dark.

Another highlight this year at Rocco II pizzeria was a remodel of the entire shop. New ceramic tiles, ovens and a reconfiguration of the front space to open it up made the space that much more inviting.

And of course Rocco himself was there for a short while making a few pizzas. We always joke around how we grew up together! I’ve been painting his windows for 3 decades.

Next up…the winter wonderland I painted at Pearl River Saloon.
