Valentines Day Windows

Every so often I’m asked to paint Valentine’s Day windows. The very first one I painted was for a florist in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, on Manhattan Avenue.

The year was 1996; and the couple that owned the shop were expecting their first baby. I remember this because I just had my first baby 7 months earlier. It was a very special and exciting time and love was definitely in the air.

And it’s always fun to paint a baby cupid!

Another memorable window I painted was Jaques Torres Chocolates in Dumbo, Brooklyn.

I had a friend Lisa who grew up in Brooklyn and her mom Marie was a bit of a foodie. Marie was friends with master pastry chef Jacques Torres and spent time volunteering in his shop.

She invited me to come meet him and show him my work. The pictures of my window painting peeked his interest and he decided to hire me to paint Valentines windows. If you look closely some of the hearts have french sayings on them.

Below are some other valentines windows I painted more recently.
