Are you a football fan? 🏈I love football! 🏈. Today is Super Bowl LV!
My favorite bars in Brooklyn did not survive covid19. 😭 Both have been completely shut down since March of 2020.
So there are NO freshly painted Super Bowl windows this year. 😫
However, here’s a look back at the windows I painted last year. Before the pandemic changed the world; and a little story of how I started watching football.

I didn’t always love football. My furthest memories I recall from my past are from the age of 3 or 4.
Back then I got in trouble for fighting with my brothers. (I have 4 brothers, no sisters.)
Guess what my punishment was? I was forced to watch a football game. My dad made me sit in a chair next to him and I couldn’t get up unless his team scored. It was excruciating!
It was a Nebraska Cornhusker game. Cornhusker games were sacred; second only to mass on Sundays!
As I sat there my dad would explain things about the game and hoot and holler when our team made a touch down. I learned to jump for joy when that football made it into the end zone!🏈. It meant I could get out of my chair!
Several years later, one of my brothers had one of the first hand held digital football games from Mattel. I was challenged to dual him and he said, “Be prepared to lose!”

Since he played football, he thought he would automatically beat me; but he didn’t. (Those games had more to do with quick fingers.)
Yet, you did have to know the rules and how the game of football was played. Four downs, to go 10 yards or make a touch down. There were two buttons to make a play. One to pass or one to kick the ball.
The players and the football were merely rectangular red lights that blinked when they moved.
Did anyone play this game? If you want to learn the game of football in a very simple format, this is the way to go!
I’d like to say I kicked my brother Timmy’s butt in every game but that would be a lie. What I will say is that I did beat him at his game!
Fast forward years later, and I’m with some friends at my apartment in Brooklyn. We were waiting for our boyfriends to finish playing a game on their new toy; a video game of Madden football.
They said they were almost done and if we could wait a few minutes. So we waited and waited and finally I went over and looked at the screen and it said 1st quarter, 4 minutes left.
“Are you kidding me!?” I exclaimed, “They started a new game!”
Busted!
“Ya, she knows how to play football.” Revealed my boyfriend as his friend looked at me in disbelief.
It was time to eat!
I love sports! 🏈 ⚾️🏀⚽️🎾
